(1) Serenity (America) (2005)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379786/
"Dr. Caron: These are just a few of the images we've recorded. And you can see, it wasn't what we thought. There's been no war here and no terraforming event. The environment is stable. It's the Pax. The G-23 Paxilon Hydrochlorate that we added to the air processors. It was supposed to calm the population, weed out aggression. Well, it works. The people here stopped fighting. And then they stopped everything else. They stopped going to work, they stopped breeding, talking, eating. There's 30 million people here, and they all just let themselves die."
"Jayne Cobb: Ain't logical. Cuttin' on his own face, rapin' and murdering - Hell, I'll kill a man in a fair fight... or if I think he's gonna start a fair fight, or if he bothers me, or if there's a woman, or if I'm gettin' paid - mostly only when I'm gettin' paid. But these Reavers... last ten years they show up like the bogeyman from stories. Eating people alive? Where's that get fun?"
"Young River: People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome."
"The Operative: Key members of Parliament. Key. The minds behind every military, diplomatic and covert operation in the galaxy, and you put them in a room with a psychic."
"Mr. Universe: Oh, Mal, you're very smart. Someone is talking to her.
Hoban 'Wash' Washburn: The oaty bar?
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Subliminal. It's a subliminal message, broadwaved to trigger her.
Mr. Universe: I've been seeing this code pop up all over, the last few weeks. It's Alliance, and it's high military."
(2) Event Horizon (America) (1997)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119081/
"Dr. Weir: [laughing] The ship brought me back. I told you she won't let me leave - she won't let anyone leave. Did you really think you could destroy this ship? She's defied space and time. She's been to a place you couldn't possibly imagine. And now... it is time to go back."
"Dr. Weir: You know nothing. Hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse."
"Dr. Weir: You can't leave. She won't let you."
"D.J.: I wasn't going to tell you this. I've been listening to the distress signal, and I, um, think I made a mistake in the translation.
[Plays the distress signal]
Miller: Go on.
D.J.: I thought it said "liberate me" - "save me." But it's not "me." It's "liberate tutame" - "save yourself." And it gets worse.
[Plays the distress signal again]
D.J.: There - I think that says "ex inferis." "Save yourself... from hell." Look, if what Doctor Weir tells us is true, this ship has been beyond the boundaries of our universe, of known scientific reality. Who knows where it's been, what it's seen. Or what it's brought back with it.
Miller: From hell."
"Miller: Oh. My. God. What happened to your eyes?
Dr. Weir: Where we're going, we won't need eyes to see.
Miller: What are you talking about?
Dr. Weir: I created the Event Horizon to reach the stars, but she's gone much, much farther than that. She tore a hole in our universe, a gateway to another dimension. A dimension of pure chaos. Pure... evil. When she crossed over, she was just a ship. But when she came back... she was alive! Look at her, Miller. Isn't she beautiful?
Miller: Your "beautiful" ship killed its crew, Doctor.
Dr. Weir: Well... now she has another crew. Now she has us."
"Miller: Smitty have you seen... anything unusual at all?
Smith: No, I haven't seen anything and I don't need to see anything sir but I can tell you... this ship is fucked."
"Smith: You break all the laws of physics and you seriously think there wouldn't be a price? You went and killed the last fucking crew, and now you wanna kill us as well!"
"Miller: I'm telling you it was his voice I heard, he was calling to me. A young bosun named Eddie Corrick. We served on the Goliath together. When the O2 tanks ruptured, four of us made it to the lifeboat but Corrick was still on board the Goliath when the fire broke out.
[to D.J]
Miller: Have you ever seen fire in zero gravity?
[D.J shakes his head]
Miller: It's beautiful. It's like liquid it... slides all over everything. Comes up in waves. And they just kept hitting him, wave after wave. He was screaming for me to save him.
D.J.: What did you do?
Miller: I did the only thing I could. I closed the lifeboat hatch, and I left him behind. I swore I'd never lose another man.
D.J.: I've known you a long time. You never told me that.
Miller: That's just it D.J, I - I never told *anybody*. But this ship knew about it! It knows my fears, it knows my secrets! Gets inside your head and... it shows you!"
"Miller: Vacate! I want off this ship!
Dr. Weir: You can't leave. She won't let you.
Miller: You just get your gear and get back on the Lewis and Clark, Doctor, or you'll find yourself walkin' home.
Dr. Weir: I am home."
"Miller: This place is a tomb!"
"Claire, Weir's Woman: Be with me. Forever."
"Dr. Weir: What was made public about the Event Horizon - that she was a deep space research vessel, that her reactor went critical, and that the ship blew up - none of that is true. The Event Horizon is the culmination of a secret government project to create a spacecraft capable of faster-than-light flight.
Smith: Uhm, excuse me. See, you can't actually do that."
"Miller: You don't believe in that kind of stuff, do you?
D.J.: Whoever sent that message, he sure believes in Hell."
"Claire, Weir's Woman: I have such wonderful, wonderful things... to show you..."
"Miller: I want you cool, I want you calm, NOW!"
"Miller: [after he realizes that the ship is alive] God help us..."
"Dr. Weir: Where we're going... we don't need eyes to see!"

"Bobby: Is everybody fucking everybody in this crazy God damn town?"
"Bobby: See, that's the difference between you and me, and why you live here and I'm just passing through."
"It's the desert that makes you crazy. The loneliness out here. Nobody to talk to. People on the run."
"Bobby: Is everyone in this town on drugs?"
"Darrell: Ya think bad, then bad's what ya get.
Bobby: That's a pretty decent philosophy you got there."
"Jake McKenna: A man with no ethics is a free man."
"Bobby: 40,000 people die every day, Darrell. How come you're not one of 'em?"
"Blind Man: Everything is everything. And everything is nothing, too."
"Jake McKenna: [having sex with Grace from behind] You've been a bad girl, Grace!"
"Jake McKenna: [having sex with Grace from behind] Oh, fuck it away, fuck it away! But it ain't ever gonna go away!"
"Flo: Now you can fuckin' take it, or you can fuckin' leave it."
"Sheriff Virgil Potter: She liked fuckin' her papa."
"Grace: Don't you want to know? Was Jake my father? Was I fucking my daddy? Yes, I was! I was fucking my daddy! And I married him! I married him, okay? I just wanted to be a kid. And they took that from me. They treated me like meat. A piece of meat. Fuck him! Fuck the whole town, they deserve to die!"
"Blind Man: Your lies are old but you tell them pretty good."
